Effective date: January 4, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Countdown (“the app”) handles information.
What Countdown is (and isn’t)
Countdown is a widget-focused app for showing countdowns and count-ups on your Home Screen. It is not a reminder service, and it does not require an account.
Your content stays on your device
The events you create (dates, titles/text, emojis, colors, images/backgrounds, and widget settings) are stored locally on your device. We do not upload this content to our servers.
Diagnostics, analytics, and crash reports
To improve stability and performance, Countdown uses Datadog to collect:
- Crash reports and error logs
- Performance data (e.g., app responsiveness)
- Basic usage/interaction events (how the app is used, which screens/features are opened)
This collection is enabled by default (there is currently no in-app opt-out). Some collection may be sampled, meaning only a portion of data is sent.
Identifiers and network/location information
Datadog also collects technical information that may include:
- A randomly generated app identifier (not your name, not an account ID)
- IP address
- Approximate location derived from IP (such as country/city)
- Device and app details (e.g., device model, OS version, app version, language settings)
We use this information only to:
- Diagnose crashes and bugs
- Improve performance and reliability
- Understand feature usage at a high level
We do not use this information to build a profile about you, and the app does not have user accounts.
Advertising
Countdown does not show ads. We do not collect information for advertising purposes, and we do not sell or share information with third parties for advertising.
Purchases and subscriptions
Countdown offers in-app purchases and subscriptions. Payments are processed by Apple. We do not receive your payment details (such as card numbers).
We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions and entitlement status. RevenueCat may process purchase-related information and technical identifiers needed to validate and maintain subscription access (for example, subscription status and a generated identifier used for app-to-subscription mapping).
Sharing
Countdown includes a sharing feature that creates an image snapshot you choose to share. Sharing only happens when you initiate it; the app does not automatically post anything.
Data retention
We keep diagnostic/analytics data only for as long as needed for the purposes described above.
Third-party processors
We use the following service providers to operate and improve the app:
- Datadog (analytics, performance monitoring, crash/error reporting)
- RevenueCat (subscription management)
These providers process data on our behalf according to their own terms and privacy practices.
Your choices
At the moment, Countdown does not include an in-app setting to disable analytics/crash reporting. If we add this option in the future, we will update this policy.
Children’s privacy
Countdown is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page.
